Hot Mulled Apple Cider For Young And Old Alike

February 13th, 2009 by admin

Whenever I was around my Grandma when she made hot apple cider, I noticed that she always tossed in a tea bag. Because that’s all I knew, I thought all Crock Pot Apple Cider recipes would have a tea bag included in the ingredients. But, not all do. The difference, I found, was a slight tangy, but not tart, flavor in the background when you add tea to apple cider. Now, I love it, but my kids, like most, will prefer a little extra sweetness in their hot apple cider. That’s why the added pineapple juice makes this particular hot, mulled cider a delight for the very young and old alike.

Like most crock pot recipes, there’s usually room for adjusting the ingredients to suit your own particular taste. I like to use a simple green tea in this recipe, and often put in two bags as green tea isn’t as strong as, say, Earl Grey tea. If you think the tea is getting a little strong, you can carefully take a slotted spoon and scoop the tea bag out of the crock pot early. In crock pot cooking, there are really not that many hard-and-fast rules.
