Meet the Fearsome Godfred Viking Sword
admin
Named after the most gravely feared Viking raider King Godfred, the Godfred Viking Sword is a very powerful sword originally used by warriors who fought way back in the 9th century. The Viking sword played a significant part in the evolution of weaponry that led to the 11th century knight sword that was equally powerful.
The swords used by Vikings were distinguished from other sword classes due to their incredible long blade length despite the retained one hand handle. The Godfred Sword was no exception, boasting a whopping 28 inches in blade length alone. Couple this with the 5 inch handle covered in a leather through a special weaving design, the entire sword is a total of 34 inches in length.
The sword is made of steel, Damascus, bronze and leather – the usual elements of a Viking sword. Both the distinct, hat-shaped Viking sword pommel and the guard are made of Damascus, while the scabbard that comes with the set is made up actual sturdy leather. Surely, this combination of steel, metals and leather created a very convincing replica of the Godfred Viking Sword that lives up to its name.
